The Storer Siblings Hit The Road
By Adam Simon - July 26th 2010 8:16 pm

From the Carters to the Cashes and the Chambers - and many others whose surname doesn't begin with 'C' - it's a roots music tradition to keep things in the family. While it's been a long time coming, Greg Storer has finally, quietly joined his award-winning sister Sara in the singer/songwriter spotlight.
Talk to people about Sara Storer and the same words keep being used: 'real', 'unaffected', 'authentic'. It's partly a way of acknowledging that she's lived the life she sings about. And the same is already being said about Greg who will join his sister on tour to coincide with the release of their respective albums - "Calling Me Home: The Best Of Sara Storer" and "Backwater", Greg's debut.
In a review of Backwater, Kim Cheshire, from Country Update Magazine, opines 'With an accent that's one part Texas and two parts Townsville, Storer regales us with the hard earned wit and wisdom that comes from a life on the land, He's obviously no novice when it comes to expressing himself lyrically and musically.'
While respected journalist and ABC broadcaster, Richard Glover, observes that 'Sara has a hungry writer's eye, her songs full of vivid, telling moments and narratives that seem to drop the listener into a freshly minted world. The voice that tells these tales is open and unguarded; the music seductive yet energised. Her songs speak with great directness and immediacy, as if we had found ourselves on the road, or round the campfire, with the characters of the song.'
Paul Kelly, Australia's master-songwriter, may have best captured her unique talent: 'You know she's paid attention,' he says, 'heard the bush waking up in the morning, listened to the worries thrashed out at the kitchen table, smelt dry summer wheat up close, dreamed of far away places in a bedroom with a window on a big sky, driven miles on dirt and bitumen and fallen in and out of love. She's found her own way to sing the stories that are all around her and then inside her bubbling out. She doesn't copy over-emotive, fake sincere twangy country singers from overseas. She's found her own restraint and steel and lets her songs do their sweet, sly work.'

Love Like Crazy
Once better known as a songwriter rather than a singer, all it took for Lee Brice to get his debut album released was a #1 endorsement by a man named Garth and a whole batch of great songs, which Brice has now recorded and finally released on Love Like Crazy.
