I Got Your Country Right Here

The Redneck Woman is back with a bang on her latest album, "I Got Your Country Right Here" which is first release on Wilson's own Redneck Records after parting ways with her record company in recent times. Although there's a new label, for a new album, the same "redneck" concepts still run deep on this record, as Wilson evokes the spirits of Haggard, Jennings and Williams Jr on a fine blue collar country outing.

This album is peppered with great tracks one after another, prompting one to think that Wilson has saved or sourced all this great material for this album now that she has her own label - and if so, it's her previous record labels significant loss.

Gretchen Wilson'd trademark redneck attitude is present from start to finish on this album. The opening title track finds her respecting her influences - legends of southern rock and country such as Charlie Daniels, Lynryd Skynrd, ZZ Top and Waylon Jennings.

Moving on, tracks like Trucker Man and Work Hard, Play Harder are well structured and indicate Wilson's connection with the working class.

As is often the case on many country album, the first track and the last track are the strongest bookends on this album. Gretchen closes out this fine album by leaving her redneck attitude at the door, revealing a sensitive side on the acoustic song I'd Love to Be Your Last.

Now that the Redneck Woman is back and sounding just as good as she did on her debut album, fingers crossed it gets released in Australia and maybe another tour - can anyone say CMC Rocks 2011?
