Crazy Heart

With the new year comes new musical anticipation, the first of which is the film and the soundtrack of Crazy Heart, due to open in Australian cinemas in February 2010.With a soundtrack produced by T Bone Burnett, producer of award winning soundtracks and multi-platinum soundtracks Walk The Line and O Brother, Where Art Thou?, the music from this film includes original music performed by the film stars Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell and Texas-bred troubadour Ryan Bingham.
Crazy Heart is the tale of the richly comic, semi-tragic romantic anti-hero Bad Blake, a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. Four-time Academy Award nominee Jeff Bridges interprets the role of Bad Blake, who as the film progresses, can't help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean, played by the sensational Maggie Gyllenhaal, a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician. As he struggles down the road of redemption, Bad learns the hard way just how tough life can be on one man's crazy heart.
The standout track of this album features Ryan Bingham, co-writer (with Burnett) and performer of the sublime closing song The Weary Kind, which draws upon Bad Blake's emotional journey as an alcoholic seeking sobriety.
The other tracks either written or selected by T Bone Burnett are co-written and performed by country/alt-country/ folk/roots legends Buddy Miller, Stephen Bruton and Bob Neuwirth.
